Το βράδυ της Κυριακής πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Beverly Hilton Hotel του Los Angeles η απονομή των βραβείων Golden Globes.

H ταινία-έκπληξη που σάρωσε στις περισσότερες κατηγορίες ήταν η γαλλική, βωβή "The Artist", η οποία κατάφερε να αποσπάσει τα βραβεία καλύτερης κωμωδίας ή μιούζικαλ, καλύτερης ανδρικής ερμηνείας σε κωμωδία ή μιούζικαλ για τον γάλλο ηθοποιό Ζαν Ντεζαρντέν και μουσικής.

Ανάμεσα στην A-list των νικητών φιγουράρουν τα ονόματα των: George Clooney o οποίος απέσπασε τη Χρυσή Σφαίρα καλύτερης δραματικής ταινίας και καλύτερης ανδρικής ερμηνείας σε δραματική ταινία, Woody Allen που κέρδισε το βραβείο σεναρίου για τo «Μεσάνυχτα στο Παρίσι» και φυσικά της Meryl Streep η οποία επικράτησε στην κατηγορία της γυναικείας ερμηνείας σε δραματική ταινία για το Iron Lady.
